Life has a way of throwing pie in your face. Sometimes it stings, sometimes it introduces you to a yummy new taste to savor, and sometimes it does both.
At the beginning of October 2015, we were just beginning the 10-month planning stage of what was to be our triumphant leap out of the full-time workforce and into Phase Next when the unexpected happened. The high-tech company that I was working for announced another round of cost-cutting and my position was eliminated. Only a few weeks into planning and the factors have changed. Now what? Given the current economic climate in Alberta, and the fact that Ken works for a company heavily dependent on the oil and gas industry, it is highly possible that his job will be eliminated in the near future as well. Double now what?
