We live nomadically and travel slowly, which provides us with opportunities to experience all that a community has to offer. House and pet sitting add bonuses like furry friends to keep us company, green spaces and gardens to putter in that beautify our surroundings, and further connections with homeowners and neighbours. We combine house and pet sitting with other accommodation options based on a very loose list of places we want to visit and when. We are members of a large global network of house and pet sitters who do not charge homeowners for sitting. Instead, we enjoy the trust-based exchange of services whereby we care for homes, pets, and gardens in exchange for clean, pleasant accommodations.

“Coral and Ken are a pet owner’s dream. Five stars is simply insufficient. This was our second time having them sit with our senior Labrador and this was not by chance. We asked them about availability and were delighted they could take this second assignment. We will be asking them again in the future in the hopes that the stars align and they are available when we are travelling. They are reliable, caring, self-starting, sensitive and thoughtful. They put our lovely Nessie first in all decision making. They went out of their way to give her lovely experiences including swimming. They are wonderfully communicative sending notes and pictures which are so welcome when you are away. We did not have a moments concern about Nessie or about our house while in the care of Coral and Ken. They leave the house beautifully clean, tidy and more organized than it was when they arrived. Not only that, but they are fun to know. All in all as close to perfection as it gets.“

“This was my first experience having a house sitter for the two dogs and I feel like I won the lottery. Coral and Ken are a very experienced house sitting couple who are extremely good with dogs. They are very thorough ask many questions in order to understand the dogs routine and temperaments and expectations for your home. A friend of mine ran into them while they were walking the dogs and she texted me immediately telling me what good hands the dogs were in. Ken had the one dog who can be reactive on leash complete behaving. They sent pictures and communicated regularly, I had no concerns whatsoever. My home was extremely clean and my dogs were extremely happy and content when I got home. 100% recommend them and I hope to have them come sit for me again.“

“I wish there were more stars we could give – Coral and Ken certainly deserve them. This wonderful team cared for our senior Labrador for just over a month. They are wonderful communicators which meant that there was a never a worry about how our lovely creature was doing. We received photos and video’s regularly. They were also willing to work with contractors at our house after a tree fell on it a few days before the sit. They volunteered to take Nessie to the veterinarian so that she would get her monthly shot on time rather that a few days late when we were home. They gave us perceptive and honest updates about how she was doing. Not only that but they left our house better than they found it – organizing the dreaded tupperware drawer amongst other most welcome improvements. They kindly asked for a list of items we would like to find in our refrigerator when we got home to ease our first day after a very long haul home.
When our arrival home was delayed they were flexible, accommodating and caring.

We are still noticing the extra things that Coral and Ken did entirely on their own initiative such as blowing the leaves off the drive for our arrival home.

We are delighted that Coral and Ken will be back with us for our next trip – complete piece of mind and 2 paws up from Nessie.

Coral and Ken were very thorough asking questions and taking notes during a zoom meeting we had to discuss the sit and I felt very comfortable with having them look after my pets and house. Coral and Ken were easy to get along with and the communication prior and during the sit was great. My cats took to Coral and Ken soon after they arrived at the house to pick up keys, which is a first, as they are normally timid.

During the time I was away, Coral and Ken provided updates and photo’s of my cats. I believe my cats had a good a vacation as I did! I had a wonderful stress free, worry free time away thanks to Coral and Ken. I came home to two very happy cats and a wonderfully clean house. “We couldn’t have been more pleased and impressed with our THS Coral and Ken. They were absolutely terrific. Even before the sit, they were communicative. They thoroughly read our on-line guide and asked thoughtful questions. They accommodated our pre-trip schedule and came several hours early so we could introduce them to our two doggies, give them the house tour, and even go with us to “doggie recess,” the daily off-leash gathering of dogs in our nearby park.

During our trip, Coral and Ken communicated daily, sending pictures and brief notes about what was going on. When there was a brief crisis with a spring outbreak of ticks, they handled it with ease. Throughout our trip, we never worried about the house or our pups because we were confident they were in good hands.

When we returned after 2 weeks of travel, the house was in perfect order and our dogs were relaxed and happy. Coral and Ken even left us a delicious enchilada casserole that we gratefully heated up after a long, red-eye flight. All-in-all, we can’t say enough about these two excellent TH sitters. If you have a chance to have them stay at your home and care for your pets, you’ll be very happy. We hope they’ll consider sitting for us again.”

“Coral and Ken were our first house sitters with Trusted Housesitters and they were fantastic. We had used house sitters through other programs and had mixed outcomes. From the initial interview we knew that we would be in good hands if Coral and Ken accepted our sit. Coral was so organized and thorough; she helped us prepare for the sit so that they would be successful. Knowing that we had great, experienced housesitters coming to look after Oliver lowered my stress level immensely.

They arrived the afternoon before we left and had thoroughly reviewed our welcome guide. Coral had questions prepared to clarify anything they needed to see in person. We had a lovely visit while they saw Olivers routine and familiarized themselves with our home. When it was time to leave we were very confident that Oliver and the house were in good hands.

While we were away, we received daily photos of Oliver…snuggling by the fire, out for a hike, being naughty. I could tell he was happy and having fun from the look in his eyes. They were even tuned in and understood his communication…we received a message, “Oliver says he’s allowed icecream.” Of, course he’d say that because he always gets a small bowl.

When we returned home Oliver was delighted to see us but made sure that he gave both Coral and Ken a nice goodbye snuggle. The house was clean and tidy, exactly as we had left it. There was milk in the frig and fruit on the counter. The exchange was seamless. I would feel very fortunate to have Coral and Ken housesit again.”

Despite leaving them with a mild medical issue for Kip – they took this in their stride and communicated regularly giving me comfort that all was in order. The house and Kip were in good order when we got home – absolutely sound experience and because Coral as a consummate planner – I can highly recommend them for any task they choose to undertake.”

“Coral & Ken are inspiring. I want to be them when I grow up! They are kind, generous with their time, patient, and caring. They came a day early at our request as this is the best way to learn the “systems” of our home and animal care. We had a delightful meal together and they shared their fascinating life stories with us. They took instantly to Eddy and he to them. In fact, when we returned, Ed was confused as to who his “real” parents were! And we were only gone five days! Because of the good questions they asked (no one has ever asked us where the turn-offs for gas and water are!), we discovered a leak under the house. I phoned the plumber before we left and Ken and Coral handled all interactions with our plumber. The leak was fixed. Both Tim & I felt the house was in good, experienced hands. Ken and Coral didn’t even mind that our hens were molting and VERY stingy with their eggs. They took great care of them anyway. Ken and Coral drove us to the train station and picked us up when we came home. But, wait. It gets better! They made us a full-course dinner for our return. And, my goodness, it was delicious. They spent one more night with us, allowing us to have some good chats. They also let us tour their fabulous nomad vehicle before they left. I love these two and you will, as well.”

Our two dogs grew to love them so much that when they left the dogs were at the door crying as they saw them drive away with their suitcases stowed in the car. We could not have gotten a more caring and responsible couple to look after our home and pets. Ken and Coral went out of their way to care for our pets and our home. Ken did some home repairs while they were here that required attention. Our house was left immaculately cleaned. Coral even left a fridge full of food for us on our return in case we needed to quarantine after leaving Mexico. Coral and Ken have become our friends. Even our neighbors have befriended them and have had them over for dinner. We would have them back again in a heart beat.”

“Coral and Ken took care of our home and our two elderly (almost 11 and 14 1/2) male standard poodles for four weeks. They were the absolute best! They are true professionals, were very respectful of our home, attentive to details, kind and caring with the pooches. Communication from start to finish was clear and cordial, I just had a sense they “got it”. Communication while we were away was regular, I felt any questions asked were necessary and appropriate, and the anecdotes and information about the dogs made it clear they were getting to know them and their habits. There is so much to running a household, especially with pets, and I think that Coral and Ken had the perfect balance of take charge/check in. The things we missed or forgot to mention, they made it work, or they asked about it. We had a great holiday because we felt everything was in excellent hands. We came home to happy pups, a spotless house, gardening done, hot tub maintained, they even fixed our kayaks and washed the dog’s beds! They made it look easy! I really could go on and on! My husband Murray said it best “It’s like we came home to a holiday”. These people are competent, respectful, professional, and, above all, kind and caring. Thanks Coral and Ken, for all!”

“We feel that we won the lottery when Coral and Ken agreed to take care of our three little pups for two weeks this past Christmas. They were utterly caring and responsible and responsive. Mature, calm, warm and wonderful with the dogs, we cannot say enough good things about them! While we were away our senior dog had a medical issue and Coral and Ken handled everything with confidence. They tracked each dog with precision and got to know each of their idiosyncrasies, and so were able to notice when our dog was not well and also when he began to return to his normal self. They gave the pups a bit of training and we came home to a quieter version of our little Theodore! As for coming home, we returned to a spotless home with a gorgeous bouquet of flowers and some food awaiting us in the fridge. They checked with us as to our preferred frequency of updates, and sent us news and photos as we asked. Anyone would be very lucky to have them care for their home and precious companion animals. Ken enjoys dog training, and our 14-month dog (still a puppy at heart) enjoyed and benefitted from Ken’s attention. They even sent us a video of our dog\’s progress. Our cat is super relaxed, and felt at home enough to enjoy many nights on their lap while watching some television. Coral and Ken had a few curve balls thrown at them, as there is a construction project on site of our home (soon to be finished). They managed to put up with the noise of that, and remained positive and upbeat about their stay. I would highly recommend Coral and Ken to any home & pet owner. Coral and Ken stayed at our home and took care of our two cats and larger dog for almost 2 weeks. We couldn’t have felt more comfortable and confident in our decision to have them pet sit. They are very responsible, reliable, kind, capable and professional. They both went above and beyond for us in many ways including helping our busy family to and from the airport, mowing our lawn, and leaving a lovely fruit bowl for us on our return home. There was great communication when we were away and beautiful photos of our fur babies were sent. This was our first time having someone look after our dog besides a friend, and Coral and Ken were definitely a great fit. They understood and respected her needs, were secure in walking her on and off leash and had great training insight too. Our dog now sits for her food which she wasn’t doing before! All of our pets were well taken care of and missed Coral and Ken. Also, our house was in tip top shape upon our return which was so appreciated.

We would HIGHLY recommend this couple for any house or pet sit and would feel so grateful to ever have them return to our home again.

They dealt with the various needs of our pooches with love and attention to detail (giving meds, putting Zoe into her support harness for walks etc.). They picked us up at the airport and when we got home everything was super clean and they had even left us a bottle of wine and some fruit, which was most welcome after a 16 hour flight from Australia.”

Our home is better now than when we left: very-handy-man Ken fixed a chair leg, a faulty ring on a hob and pruned my vines (I wouldn’t entrust that to just anybody). He drove our car expertly – even to pick us up from the airport in Rome late Sunday night when we had an unforeseen return flight crisis. Their kindness extended to cooking a return meal for us, leaving us with ample supplies of wine and a gorgeous plate of fresh fruit. Simply the best.”

We met briefly in the airport before we both went our separate ways, we felt very confident leaving the care of our pets and home to them. We were updated regularly with photos of the dogs having a wonderful time on the beach and in the mountains. There were some small unexpected things that came up that Ken managed to sort out without any trouble. The house was left impeccably clean and tidy! The dogs were happy and healthy, as were the ducks, hens and cat. “… we honestly don’t know where to begin with how fantastic they were. They went over and above to make this experience exceptional. They cared for our place and pet with the utmost respect, and attended to the ‘little’ things that ended up making a huge difference. While we were away (for 3 weeks), they baked rhubarb muffins and left some in the freezer for us, they took our spring yard waste to the dump, weeded & mowed our lawn & garden with care, manually attended to our irrigation once we learned it wasn’t working properly (right before we left), and replaced everything that they used. They even cleaned our gas fireplace cover. We really appreciated their timely updates while we were away as well. Our home was clean and our cat was happy. We would have them back in a second and refer them to any friend or family member without question.”

Ken went the extra mile by offering to take me to the airport for my flight, and he also picked me up on my return, an unexpected bonus! I enjoyed the company of both Coral and Ken, and I would highly recommend them to anyone requiring a sitter of their home, with or without a pet.”
