Stans: Day trip to Zurich

We flew into Zurich a couple of weeks ago, but hadn’t seen anything of the city except the highways and tunnels leading out of it to our house sitting home in Stans. So, on a day that didn’t bode well for views from mountain tops, we drove about an hour to this city to wander about.

We didn’t really have a plan for the day. We knew the city was full of Christmas markets, and we decided just to wander–both to enjoy the market ambiance, and to get the feel of the city. P1260511

It was a grey weather day, and we couldn’t see beyond the city to what should have been beautiful mountain vistas. It would be nice to return on a clear day to absorb the full impact of the city and its surroundings.

We set our GPS so we could park at the Urania Parkhaus, but when we reached the city, signs indicated there were no spaces available. We detoured to the City Centre Parkhaus, which showed plenty available spots, and it didn’t disappoint. Parking is expensive, though, and about 4 1/2 hours cost 18 CHF (~$18 USD, $23 CAD).
